A Chicago-based educational technology start-up is seeking an After-School Music Coordinator to join its team. The company creates video games that teach children how to play musical instruments and partners with schools to run after-school programs. This role involves using those games to lead fun, engaging music sessions with elementary and middle school students.
The After-School Music Coordinator will play a key role in facilitating these programs, using innovative technology to guide students through interactive lessons. The ideal candidate will bring strong teaching experience, a passion for music, and an interest in the power of video games in education. This is a part-time role – once a week you will work 1-2 hours at an after-school program, helping the children learn how to play the video games/teach music. Required Skills and Experience
  • Experience teaching or working with children in a structured environment
  • Proficiency in playing at least one or more musical instrument(s)
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Interest in educational technology and game-based learning
  • Reliable and comfortable working in school-based settings during after-school hours
What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead after-school music sessions using video game-based curriculum
  • Instruct and support students as they learn musical concepts and instruments through gameplay
  • Collaborate with school partners and internal teams to deliver engaging experiences
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback or encouragement
  • Serve as a positive mentor and role model for students
