We are helping a leading finance company hire a full-time Director of Cloud Engineering for their Chicago office. They ensure market stability by providing clearing and settlement services for options, futures, and securities lending. Regulated by the SEC, CFTC, and Federal Reserve, they serve over 100 clearing members and 19 exchanges.

In this position, your primary focus will be on nurturing and retaining exceptional engineers and managers, while developing, mentoring, and inspiring diverse teams to enhance and expand our organization. You will drive results for our cloud platform by working closely with engineers and other leaders to build a robust, scalable, and secure technology stack, employing industry best practices. Additionally, you will ensure consistent communication and meet commitments, accelerating team progress by eliminating obstacles.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Over 5 years of proven experience in leading engineering teams, focusing on talent development and fostering positive, high-performance cultures.
  • More than 10 years of extensive experience in software engineering, with expertise in large-scale computing solutions (primarily AWS). This includes software design, database architecture, IP networking, security, cloud operations, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with operating systems, particularly Linux.
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS services, with an emphasis on platform and core services.
  • Solid grasp of security, compliance, and control measures, and their application within cloud environments.
  • Must have experience with Kafka and Kubernetes
  • Proficient in cloud networking concepts, including firewalls, VPCs, secure gateways, and related technologies.
  • Competent in container technologies, container management, and orchestration, including Kubernetes and its various components.
  • Awareness of best practices in software delivery and continuous integration and improvement.
  • Experience with Agile/Lean methodologies for project management and delivery.
  • Strong expertise in automation, including principles, pipelines, and automation delivery processes.
  • AWS Solution Architect Associate (Required)
