Sr Backend Node.js Engineer / Hybrid / AWS / GraphQL

Chicago, Illinois

Hybrid

Full Time

$140k - $170k

We’re hiring a Backend Node Engineer to join a fast-growing, well-funded InsureTech startup that recently secured $36M in Series B funding as it expands its U.S. engineering presence. This is a unique opportunity to be an early contributor on a high-impact team working at the intersection of real estate, insurance, and technology — all within a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.

The company is building a fully digital insurance platform tailored to landlords of smaller multi-unit properties (typically under $10M), an often-overlooked segment by traditional insurers. Currently active in 18 states and managing over $45B in insured assets, they're focused on scaling their backend infrastructure to support growing demand and enable smarter, more efficient underwriting processes.

You’ll be part of a lean, collaborative backend team developing core systems that power the underwriting engine. The role involves close partnership with product and data teams and exposure to modern backend technologies including Node.js, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, and evolving applications of machine learning and computer vision.
