Fort Worth, TX company is seeking a Database Administrator to join their team for a contract opportunity.

Leverage the latest technology to solve business problems in a collaborative environment at this Fortune 500 transportation giant. Top technical resources are retained on long-term contract engagements.
Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase better.

Contract Duration: 2 Months with extensions

Required Skills & Experience
  • Power Platform (Canvas/model-driven apps, SharePoint, Power BI)
  • Relational databases (design/SQL/tuning)
  • Web APIs (SOAP/REST)
  • Tooling (GIT/JIRA/Azure DevOps)
  • Proficiency in Power BI development, including report and dashboard creation.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and data visualization concepts.
  • Experience with SQL for data manipulation and extraction.
  • Knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) for creating calculations.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse concepts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Adaptability to changing business requirements.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead and execute the cloud migration projects from On-prem SQL Server to Azure SQL, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.
  • Implement best practices for database security and compliance with data privacy regulations, incorporating access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.
  • Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards to meet the business stakeholders’ needs.
  • Develop and implement custom solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, working closely with development teams to optimize query performance, indexing strategies, and resource utilization.
  • Implement and maintain robust monitoring solutions to provide real-time insights into database health, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
  • Conduct regular health checks, capacity planning, and upgrade/migration activities to maintain system reliability and stability.
  • Perform essential database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.
  • Innovate and implement automation solutions for routine tasks, reducing manual efforts and improving operational efficiency.
  • Design, implement, and maintain SQL and Azure database solutions aligned with organizational requirements and industry best practices.
  • Design, develop, and enhance ETL processes using Azure Data Factory or other tools to integrate data from diverse sources into the database seamlessly.
  • Collaborate with teams to optimize and streamline data transformation pipelines.
  • Collaborate with the teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues efficiently using Azure Insights, Monitoring, DMVs, Query Store, etc.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of SQL, Transact-SQL.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, standards, and procedures to foster knowledge-sharing.
  • Gather and understand business requirements for data visualization and analysis.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to acquire, clean, and transform data for reporting purposes.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Power BI reports.
  • Providing training and support to end users on using Power BI
  • Keep up to date with the latest Power BI features and trends.
