We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (Level IV) with expertise in mainframe environments, specifically IMS and Db2 for z/OS. As a key member of our IT team, you will manage, optimize, and safeguard our organization's database systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain enterprise databases, focusing on mainframe technologies such as IMS and Db2 for z/OS.
- Collaborate with development teams and end-users to determine data access requirements, estimate transaction loads, and analyze data volumes.
- Design, implement, and coordinate physical changes to databases, maintaining data integrity and security.
- Develop, test, and execute scripts for database modifications while ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
- Specify and manage user access controls for databases, including permissions for insert, update, retrieval, and deletion of data.
- Monitor database performance and apply tuning techniques to improve system efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, coordinating corrective actions as needed.
- Direct and support other technical staff in making database management system changes or updates.
- Document database systems, operational processes, and changes for compliance and future reference.
- Provide training and guidance to users on effective database system utilization.
- Participate in reviews to assess the impact of database changes on other systems and staff resources.
- Extensive experience with mainframe database systems, particularly IMS and Db2 for z/OS.
- Strong understanding of both logical and physical database design.
- Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization.
- Ability to establish, document, and enforce database parameters and user access controls.
- Familiarity with scripting and utility programs for database monitoring and management.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Previous experience coordinating with both technical teams and end-users.
- Experience in large, enterprise-scale environments.
- Prior training or user-support experience.
- Certifications related to database management or mainframe technologies.
