Job Description
An American news and media company primarily focused on local news, digital media, and local marketing services is looking to hire a Solution Architect with experience designing modern, scalable microservices architectures. This company has over 50+ affiliate stations across the nation and prides itself on covering breaking local stories so communities can stay up to date.

For this role, they are looking for a skilled Solution Architect to partner with engineering teams and lead the design of scalable, secure, and resilient backend systems that power their content platform. This person will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of several new initiatives as the company enters a major growth phase with a 2026 roadmap of greenfield projects. This is a full-time position and requires 3 days a week onsite at their office in Knoxville. They also offer competitive salaries and benefits. An ideal candidate for this role will have strong experience designing distributed systems using C#, .NET, REST APIs, SQL, and modern containerized environments including Kubernetes.

Required Skills & Experience

• C#

• Experience designing microservices architectures

• Familiarity with event-driven architecture

• Experience guiding engineering teams on scalable system design

Desired Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with architectural responsibilities

• BS in Computer Science or related field is a plus

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and technical leadership

• Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive mindset

What You Will Be Doing

Daily Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of scalable backend services and distributed systems

• Partner with engineering teams to define system architecture, integration patterns, and technical standards

• Guide teams in implementing microservices, event-driven systems, and cloud-native solutions

• Ensure systems are secure, resilient, and optimized for performance and scalability

• Provide architectural oversight for new greenfield projects on the company’s 2026 roadmap

• Work closely with product, DevOps, and engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business goals
