Contract Data Scientist
Our client, a prominent healthcare organization committed to enhancing patient care and safety, is seeking a skilled Data Scientist for a 12-month contract role. This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must reside near Pasadena, CA, for occasional onsite meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret complex data to support organizational goals in healthcare.
- Design and build data architectures and pipelines.
- Apply statistical techniques and machine learning methods to derive actionable insights.
- Collaborate across teams, communicating findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Utilize and integrate data from electronic health records (EPIC Clarity), medical claims, coding systems (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 PCS), and healthcare databases (e.g., CMS, DMHC, DHCAI, HCUP/AHRQ).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and problem-solving.
- Strong experience with statistical programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
- Expertise in advanced statistical methods (e.g., regression, distribution properties, statistical testing).
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques (e.g., clustering, decision trees, neural networks) and their practical applications.
- Proven ability to manipulate large datasets and develop statistical models.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Familiarity with data mining techniques (e.g., GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, text mining).
- Experience with healthcare data systems, medical coding, and federal/state repositories.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Passion for learning new technologies and methodologies.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in healthcare, behavioral health, or finance is highly desirable.
