Job Description
This is a full-time position based in Los Angeles, with flexibility for hybrid work. You’ll be joining a trailblazing AI avatar and games technology company powering the next generation of digital experiences through user-generated content (UGC) and immersive AI-powered worlds.
The company is building a creative engine for digital expression where “anyone can create anything” and “everything works with everything.” Their proprietary avatar framework leverages machine learning, 3D graphics, and real-time systems to enable endless customization, interaction, and social gaming experiences.
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager, Machine Learning to lead a talented team of ML engineers focused on enabling expressive and performant AI avatars. In this role, you’ll manage end-to-end model development, from research to production, and contribute to a tech stack that blends generative AI, graphics, and interactive systems. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone excited to shape the ML roadmap behind one of the most creative platforms in the metaverse.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in machine learning or related fields
  • 2+ years of leadership or engineering management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
  • Deep understanding of bringing ML technologies into production environments
  • Proficient in designing and optimizing ML models for 3D graphics, mesh deformation, textures, and rendering pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of generative AI models (e.g., Diffusion, VAEs, GANs, NeRF)
  • Familiarity with LLM and NLP model evolution and application
  • Experience with real-time rendering engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal)
  • Strong skills in C++ or CUDA for accelerating ML-based rendering workflows



What You Will Be Doing

  • Experience working with OpenUSD, Houdini, and shader development
  • Prior experience in avatar systems, creative tooling, or social gaming platforms
  • Deep understanding of AI content generation pipelines and interoperability
  • Background in organizations building expressive UGC ecosystems or game development platforms
  • Exposure to large-scale ML infrastructure and optimization for interactive experiences

Daily Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development and deployment of ML models powering AI avatars
  • Manage a high-performing team of engineers and support their career growth

  • Foster innovation through a culture of iteration, experimentation, and technical excellence
  • Balance hands-on technical guidance with managerial responsibilities
