Location: Hybrid New York City: Must be based here and able to work in office 3 days/week.

They are currently looking for a skilled Workday Extend Engineer for a 90-day contract engagement. In this hybrid New York City-based role, the engineer will lead the development and deployment of custom applications within the Workday ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of Workday Extend and related technologies, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and building custom solutions using Workday Extend, integrating APIs, and working closely with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical outcomes.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience with Workday Extend application development and deployment

• 5+ years of software development experience for enterprise SaaS applications

• Strong knowledge of Workday Studio, Workday Cloud Platform SDK, and Workday APIs

• Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, RESTful APIs

• Familiarity with Workday data models and business processes

• Experience with REST, SOAP, Graph, XML, and JSON integration technologies

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities

• Comfortable working independently and within a team

• Experience with Git or other version control systems

• Adaptable and quick to learn new technologies

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, test, and deploy applications using Workday Extend

• Develop and maintain integrations between Workday and external systems

• Gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications

• Produce detailed design documentation including process flows and data models

• Conduct unit, integration, and user acceptance testing

• Optimize application and integration performance

• Troubleshoot and support Workday Extend applications

• Follow Workday best practices and security standards

• Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams

Preferred:

• Workday Extend Developer certification

• Familiarity with additional Workday modules (e.g., HCM, Finance)

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and security practices for API integrations

• Understanding of employer benefits and benefits enrollment workflows
