Software Engineering Manager / Hands Off / Hybrid Northfield, NJ 3x a week

A rapidly growing SaaS company serving government municipalities is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team building workflow optimization tools for public sector departments like billing, HR, and taxation.
This is a hands-off leadership role focused on team management, project execution, and technical oversight — not daily coding. You'll guide an Agile development team working on high-volume, event-driven systems built with Java. They are looking for someone who has a web background, management, and agile experience.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and manage a team of engineers (hiring, coaching, delivery oversight)
• Oversee backend development using Java 17, Spring Boot, and Microservices
• Guide architectural decisions and ensure best practices
• Coordinate with Product & QA to meet roadmap goals
• Support Agile processes and continuous improvement

What You’ll Bring:

• Prior experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead
• Strong Java/web development background (hands-off now)
• Comfortable working with high-volume applications
• Agile/Scrum experience
• Strong communication and leadership skills
