Remote Senior Network Engineer/Manager

Are you looking to join a company as the Lead Engineer/Network Manager?
A client of ours in the financial space is seeking someone to over see 5-8 Engineers as well as remain hands on.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network infrastructure, security, and management, specifically with Fortinet and Palo Alto devices.

As a Senior Network Engineer/Manager, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-level network solutions, while ensuring the security and integrity of the network infrastructure. You will also play a key role in leading a team of network engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage complex network infrastructures for clients, with a focus on Fortinet and Palo Alto technologies.
• Lead and mentor a team of junior to mid-level network engineers.
• Ensure the network’s availability, security, and optimal performance.
• Configure, deploy, and maintain FortiGate firewalls, Palo Alto firewalls, and associated security devices and protocols.
• Conduct regular network health checks and performance optimization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues related to routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, and more.
• Collaborate with other IT teams (systems, cloud, security) to ensure seamless network integration and operations.
• Establish, monitor, and enforce network security policies and best practices.
• Prepare and manage network documentation, including topology, configurations, and incident reports.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the network infrastructure remains robust and future-proof.
• Provide remote support and troubleshooting for clients in varying industries.
• Manage and track network incidents using ITSM tools, ensuring timely resolution.
• Assist in budgeting, resource planning, and vendor management for network hardware/software procurement.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience working as a Network Engineer, Network Manager, or similar role with a strong background in Fortinet and Palo Alto technologies.
• Extensive experience with FortiGate firewalls, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, and associated networking protocols such as IPSec VPN, SSL VPN, NAT, BGP, and OSPF.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, SNMP, etc.), and tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.).
• Experience in designing and managing enterprise-wide network security solutions.
• Proven ability to manage and lead a technical team, as well as interact with clients.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
• Certification such as Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto Networks PCNSE, CCNP, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex networking issues.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and remotely while managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Preferred Skills:

• Fortinet NSE 5/6/7, Palo Alto Networks PCCSA/PCNSA/PCNSE certifications.
• Experience with other networking technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, or Arista.
• Familiarity with network automation tools (Ansible, Python scripting).
• Experience in SD-WAN and network segmentation strategies.
