Wireless Network Technician

We are seeking a Wireless Network Technician to manage, maintain, and optimize the wireless infrastructure across a large multi-floor office environment. This role ensures stable, secure, and high-performing Wi-Fi connectivity that supports critical applications such as Microsoft Teams, VoIP systems, and high-bandwidth data services.
The technician will be responsible for monitoring wireless performance, resolving end-user connectivity issues, performing upgrades, and collaborating with the IT Network Engineering team to maintain consistent and reliable wireless coverage throughout the building.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor and maintain wireless network performance across all floors and access points.

Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (9800 series) and Cisco access points.

Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues affecting end users, including Microsoft Teams and VoIP call quality.

Conduct regular RF surveys and spectrum analysis to detect interference and improve coverage.

Manage SSIDs, VLANs, and wireless security policies for both internal and guest networks.

Maintain up-to-date documentation of network topology, device inventory, and configuration changes.

Collaborate with IT teams on firmware updates, patches, and capacity improvements.

Support new access point installations, cabling, and network switch configuration when required.

Respond promptly to service tickets and provide technical support to users.

Ensure adherence to security standards including WPA2/WPA3 encryption, 802.1X authentication, and NAC policies.
Required Qualifications

Associate degree in Information Technology, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

At least two years of experience supporting enterprise-level wireless environments.

Hands-on experience with Cisco WLCs (9800 series) and preferably Cisco DNA Center.

Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, channel planning, and spectrum management.

Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Cisco Catalyst Center, Ekahau, NetSpot, or Cisco Prime.

Ability to interpret network diagrams and building floorplans.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with minimal supervision.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail in documentation.
Preferred Certifications

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CCNP Enterprise Wireless

Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)

CompTIA Network+ or Security+
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for tasks such as access point installation or cable management.

Comfortable walking long distances as part of site surveys or equipment maintenance.
