Senior Design Technologist (12-Month Contract)

Location: Remote (US-Based) | Preference for East Coast Time Zone

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Design Technologist to play a key role in enhancing and maintaining a large-scale design system for a leading technology company. This role will be critical in ensuring consistency and refinement across multiple applications while collaborating closely with engineering teams.

This is a 12-month contract covering for an employee on leave, with a potential opportunity for extension or conversion based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain design system components to ensure a unified user experience across all applications.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate and optimize design system components.
• Work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React to build reusable, scalable front-end components.
• Ensure accessibility (WCAG) best practices are embedded into the design system.
• Establish design tokens and schemas for system-wide consistency.
• (Bonus) Develop tooling for Figma or similar platforms to enhance design system tracking and adoption.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Front-End Development background with an understanding of design principles.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems.
• Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.
• Understanding of accessibility best practices (WCAG).
• Experience working with APIs and component libraries.
• Knowledge of Shadow DOM and related challenges is a plus.
