DevOps Engineer/ ArgoCD

Toronto, ON

Hybrid

Contract

$7/hr - $85/hr

Some jobs ask you to keep the machinery running. This one asks you to design the machinery itself. The team is building a greenfield managed services product in AWS, and the first order of business is establishing GitOps foundations with ArgoCD. If you’ve spent years untangling Kubernetes clusters and wondering why GitOps isn’t standard everywhere, this is the role where you get to do it right from day one.

The work is both hands-on and architectural: creating and managing ArgoCD applications, fine-tuning synchronization strategies, troubleshooting the inevitable sync issues, and extending functionality with scripting in Python, Bash, or Go. You’ll also make sure observability isn’t an afterthought, because deploying at scale only matters if you can see what’s happening.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 6+ years of cloud and Kubernetes engineering, with specialization in ArgoCD

  • Strong grasp of GitOps principles and hands-on experience integrating ArgoCD with Git

  • Deep knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes resource configuration in production

  • Proficiency with GitLab for project creation, file templating, and pipeline management

  • Scripting in Bash, Python, or Go for automation and extensions

  • Comfort implementing monitoring and logging for both ArgoCD and deployed applications

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience designing SaaS or automation-heavy solutions

  • Experience deploying ArgoCD in production with HA/DR considerations

  • Familiarity with Akuity, Terraform, Helm, or Argo Workflows

  • Ability to bridge gaps between developers and operations to keep deployments smooth

Daily Responsibilities
  • Hands-On GitOps Development with ArgoCD: 70%

  • Collaboration, Troubleshooting & Continuous Refinement: 30%
