Title: NETWORK ENGINEER IV

Description: JOB DESCRIPTION: This family provides overall network engineering support for a broad range of programs. May include planning, designing, and evaluating various components of network. May evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance current capabilities. SCOPE: Provide overall network engineering support for a broad range of programs. Support the full system engineering life-cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, test, and implementation. Involves comprehensive knowledge of this technical field and the ability to complete difficult and complex assignments. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. Complete daily assignments and tasks meeting defined best practices and operational workflow. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s). PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. IMPACT: Decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities. LIAISON: Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets. Determines and pursues courses of action essential in obtaining desired outcomes. Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may supervise or provide guidance to other personnel. LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: - KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Involves complete knowledge of this administrative field and the ability to complete difficult and complex assignments. Mastery of the job. TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8+ years experience in a broad range of assignments in technical tasks directly related to the proposed area of responsibility.
