We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-growth private company that provides marketing, operations, and customer support for a nationally recognized membership-based organization focused on empowering responsible Americans through education, preparedness, and protection. This role will be reporting to their northern Milwaukee office three days a week and will be a full-time permanent role from the start.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping and scaling the organization’s data capabilities. Your work will directly support cross-functional stakeholders by developing reliable data models, enhancing data infrastructure, and enabling insight-driven decision making across the business. Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field—or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of advanced SQL experience and strong familiarity with ETL/ELT processes.
- Proficiency with dbt (Data Build Tool) is required.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
- Understanding of dimensional data modeling and star schemas.
- Familiarity with AWS tools (e.g., S3, EMR) and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Bonus: Experience with Python and shell scripting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Lead the development of robust, reusable, and tested data pipelines from diverse data sources.
- Design and maintain scalable dimensional data models for enterprise reporting.
- Define and enforce data transformation standards with a strong emphasis on data quality.
- Champion best practices in data engineering, including CI/CD, testing, documentation, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with data architects and analysts to ensure a unified and accessible data model.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, especially in using dbt to transform data effectively.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and risk standards, including handling of PII.
