Java Senior Software Engineer II
REMOTE USA in EST/EDT Time Zone, preferably Atlanta area
Seeking an ambitious, detail-oriented Senior Software Engineer II to be part of a core development group responsible for cutting-edge software solutions used internally by technology teams across RELX Group. As a member of our team, you will be expected not only to have a deep and comprehensive knowledge of modern Java enterprise development and best practices but will be seen as a “go to” person across the division for a set of technologies. Our group develops and maintains Java libraries for reading, writing, analyzing, transforming, and managing data in various formats in both on-premises and cloud environments, including SQL and NoSQL databases as well as other cloud storage solutions. The libraries we create expedite and standardize the development of applications and microservices by our partner product technology teams. On our team, you are not developing with a framework- you are developing the framework! You will need excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to quickly comprehend new and unfamiliar APIs and software frameworks. You will be responsible for research, design, and software development assignments and will provide direct input to project plans and scheduling. You will also work with technologists on other teams to translate their needs into requirements and solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of Software Engineering experience
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required

QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of Software Engineering experience
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Expertise in core Java development (version 11 and up).
- Strong knowledge of Java object-oriented design and architectural principles. The ability to design and code to interfaces effectively.
- Problem-solving experience involving identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot complex project issues and find effective, strategic solutions.
- Strong data manipulation and data analysis skills.
- Experience working with git.
- Experience with agile and test-driven development.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage time, and cope with change.
- Strong research skills.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Cloud-based development, particularly Azure experience
- Big data processing (particularly Spark/Databricks, specifically in a data engineering role)
- Work effectively with team members and other technical personnel to create or understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions.
- Complete bug fixes.
- Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
- Keep abreast of new technology developments.
- All other duties as assigned.
