Senior SQL Database Contractor

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Contractor for a temporary position with a leading technology-driven organization. This role is based remotely with collaboration across distributed teams. You will play a key role in ensuring SQL Server database performance, optimization, and scalability, while working closely with developers, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure teams (Azure).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team where you’ll be the go-to SQL expert, tackling complex performance challenges and driving improvements across mission-critical systems. You’ll gain exposure to high-visibility projects, cloud migrations, and database automation initiatives.

Contract Duration: 2-3 months

Required Skills & Experience
· 8+ years of database administration and management experience
· Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL (Azure SQL preferred)
· Strong experience with cloud database technologies (Azure strongly preferred)
· Deep expertise in performance monitoring, query tuning, indexing, and optimization
· Knowledge of backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
· Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Desired Skills & Experience
· Experience with automation of database operations
· Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards
· Proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members
· Prior experience in fast-paced or regulated environments

· 70% SQL Server Database Administration & Optimization
· 20% Cloud Database (Azure SQL) & Infrastructure Support
· 10% Documentation, Security, and Compliance

Daily Responsibilities
· 60% Hands-on performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization
· 20% Project-based work (migrations, scaling, automation initiatives)
· 20% Team collaboration, mentoring, and cross-functional engagement
