COBOL Developer - Assembler Experience Required

Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Mainframe Developer for a 12-month contract role with one of the top 5 banks in the United States. The ideal candidate will have expertise in COBOL, Endevor, DB2, CICS, Assembler, and VSAM in a mainframe environment. Experience with check processing systems is a significant plus. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a high-impact, fast-paced environment within a leading financial institution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe-based applications with a focus on COBOL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system functionality and resolve issues.
• Maintain and enhance legacy systems using mainframe technologies such as COBOL, Assembler, and VSAM.
• Leverage Endevor for version control and deployment management.
• Ensure the effective integration of mainframe applications with other platforms and systems.
• Optimize and troubleshoot performance issues within the mainframe environment.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruptions.
• Document technical specifications, design documents, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience in COBOL, CICS, DB2, Endevor, VSAM, Assembler, and related technologies.
• Strong understanding of mainframe development processes, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Experience in systems analysis, coding, testing, and debugging mainframe applications.
• Familiarity with mainframe job scheduling and environment management.
• Proficiency in working with large-scale databases and performing data manipulation and queries using DB2.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with check processing systems or banking/payment systems.
• Knowledge of additional mainframe tools or programming languages.
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies or experience working in Agile teams.

Contract Details:

• Duration: 12 Months (with the potential for extension).
• Location: Remote during contract. IF converted would require onsite in Chandler AZ, Minneapolis MN, Dallas TX, or Charlotte, NC.
• Compensation: $52-60/hour
