Job Description

We are partnering with an innovative leader in digital dermatopathology seeking a Software Engineer to join their remote U.S. team. The role involves designing and developing secure, scalable, and high-performance software using Python, PostgreSQL, and modern web technologies in a HIPAA-compliant environment.

Fulltime, remote CST/MST hours.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience across the full SDLC

  • Strong proficiency in Python 

  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and SQL, including schema design and optimization

  • Experience with ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy, Hibernate, or JPA

  • Solid understanding of software architecture, scalability, testing, and documentation best practices

  • Familiarity with front-end development and building interactive, data-driven web applications

  • Experience integrating and scaling full-stack systems across distributed environments

  • Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD) and QA methodologies

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with experience enhancing large, complex systems

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience developing healthcare or clinical software products used in production

  • Knowledge of HL7 standards, data interoperability, or EMR/EHR integrations

  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or similar) and visualization tools

  • Proven experience working in HIPAA-compliant or regulated environments

  • Familiarity with cloud-based architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and secure data processing

What You Will Be Doing

Tech Breakdown

  • 40% Backend Development (Python, PostgreSQL, APIs, Data Integration)

  • 40% Frontend/UI Development (Web-based Clinical Tools)

  • 20% QA, Testing, and System Enhancements

Daily Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize large-scale clinical features and annotation tools

  • Collaborate with product, design, and lab teams to improve usability and workflow efficiency

  • Maintain and scale existing systems for high reliability and performance

  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented production code

  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and data integrity standards (HIPAA)

  • Participate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions
