Exciting job opportunity for an AWS DevOps Engineer working with a company whose platform offers comprehensive financial information and advice tailored for consumers, empowering individuals to make informed financial decisions. They reach millions of people monthly through educational resources and user-friendly calculators and tools.

The successful candidate will join this vital team where they will play a key role in making important decisions and enhancements to their engineering platform. They will collaborate closely with data and engineering teams to address challenges and contribute to shaping the platform's future, while working alongside other engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps/Infrastructure Engineering
  • Prior work as an AWS DevOps Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer
  • Experience designing complex cloud solutions in AWS (EC2, EKS, RDS, Lambda, etc.)
  • Strong experience with Apache Kafka administration and optimization
  • IaC implementation (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible)
  • Must be located in Chicago or willing to relocate - this is an onsite position

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and Confluent Platform
  • Container orchestration with Kubernetes/EKS
  • CI/CD pipeline management (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions)
  • Experience migrating from Jenkins to GitOps workflows
  • Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)
  • Startup experience or being part of small teams

  • 30% Kafka Cluster Operations & Optimization
  • 20% CI/CD Pipeline Development
  • 10% Infrastructure as Code

Daily Responsibilities

  • 70% Hands On Engineering
  • 30% Team Collaboration & Planning
