A global advisory and investment services firm is looking for a Data Engineer to join their growing technology team in downtown Chicago. This role will focus on supporting and improving the company’s proprietary private market databases used by internal teams across investment banking, valuations, and advisory services.
As part of the Information Technology team, you will help design and maintain data pipelines, database architecture, and data governance processes that support analytics and operational reporting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex data systems and wants to play a key role in modernizing data infrastructure within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or related roles
- Strong SQL expertise with experience in relational database design and optimization
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
- Proficiency with Python or another scripting language for data automation
- Experience working with SQL Server or similar relational databases
- Experience integrating multiple data sources and complex data environments
- Exposure to modern cloud data platforms such as Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured data
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, or Databricks
- Experience supporting data governance or master data management (MDM) initiatives
- Experience maintaining data documentation, metadata, and data dictionaries
- Experience modernizing legacy data infrastructure or addressing technical debt
- Exposure to Salesforce data integrations
- Experience working with financial or investment data
- Familiarity with financial data platforms such as FactSet, Bloomberg, CapIQ, or PitchBook
- SQL Server, Python, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Salesforce
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to support analytics and reporting
- Assist in developing and maintaining database schemas and data structures
- Support data quality improvement initiatives and data governance practices
- Maintain and update data dictionaries, documentation, and metadata
- Collaborate with engineering teams to modernize data infrastructure and reduce technical debt
- Assist with master data management initiatives to ensure data consistency across systems
- Support database performance optimization and system reliability
- Research and evaluate new data engineering tools and best practices
