A growing innovation and digital product organization is expanding its U.S. presence and is seeking a Principal Web Engineer to help drive technical excellence across its product and technology teams. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and mentorship.
As a Principal Engineer, you will own the technical direction and delivery of large-scale, secure web applications used by millions of users. You will set engineering standards, guide teams through complex technical decisions, and remain deeply involved in hands-on development.
This role is based in Chicago with a hybrid schedule. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of professional web development experience
- Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript
- Strong experience with React and modern Next.js
- Proven ability to lead technical delivery on complex projects
- Strong architectural judgment and a pragmatic approach to engineering tradeoffs.
- Experience building e-commerce platforms or transactional systems
- Familiarity with multi-tenant or multi-market architectures
- Performance optimization and scalability experience
- Integration with third-party services and vendor SDKs
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with Docker, Redis, or similar infrastructure tools
- Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and performance metrics
