A well-established, global industrial distributor is seeking a Senior Data Operations Engineer to join their growing data and analytics organization. The company supports millions of customers across various sectors by delivering high-volume, tech-enabled product distribution and operational solutions.

As part of the Data Platform Operations team, you’ll help manage and optimize modern data infrastructure that powers enterprise analytics, data science, and business intelligence at scale. This is a technical and strategic role focused on platform reliability, cost efficiency, and process automation.

We are specifically looking for a data engineer with strong experience in Snowflake or Databricks, as well as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tools. Your expertise will help scale cloud-native platforms and improve the observability, reliability, and efficiency of complex data systems.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in managing or supporting modern cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Spark).
  • Hands-on experience orchestrating workflows using Apache Airflow, Databricks Workflows, or similar tools.
  • Solid background in developing and deploying pipelines in Python and using both batch and streaming data models.
  • Proven experience with Terraform (or equivalent IaC tools) for infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
  • Comfortable working with AWS cloud services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, and DynamoDB.
  • Strong understanding of the data lifecycle, including quality, lineage, and governance.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the operations and reliability of large-scale data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Build and maintain observability tooling and monitoring pipelines to proactively identify performance issues or data quality concerns.
  • Define and enforce SLAs for data availability, platform uptime, and job performance.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and manage cloud data infrastructure using Terraform or equivalent.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and DevOps teams to align infrastructure decisions with business objectives.
  • Lead or contribute to the continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins).
  • Implement processes for cost and utilization monitoring to ensure efficient use of compute and storage resources.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and share operational best practices across team.
