A consulting company is seeking a Commercial AV Engineer to join their team in Marlton, New Jersey. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, engineering, and supporting the deployment of commercial audiovisual systems for corporate, healthcare, education, and government clients. You will work closely with project managers, technicians, and clients to develop scalable AV solutions that meet technical requirements while delivering exceptional user experiences.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, design, and system integration. You will be responsible for creating system designs, producing AutoCAD drawings, supporting installation teams, and ensuring that AV solutions are implemented according to design standards and client expectations.
You will collaborate with internal teams to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices for audiovisual integration.
This role will be primarily on-site in Marlton, NJ with occasional client-site travel.
Required Skills & Experience3+ years of experience in commercial audiovisual engineering, AV system design, or AV integration
Experience designing commercial AV systems for corporate, conference rooms, collaboration spaces, or control rooms
Strong experience with AutoCAD for AV system drawings, rack elevations, and signal flow diagrams
Hands-on experience with AV technologies such as video conferencing, digital signage, distributed audio, and control systems
Experience with AV control platforms such as Crestron, Extron, or Q-SYS
Knowledge of AV signal flow including HDMI, HDBaseT, AV-over-IP, and audio distribution
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, and QoS as it relates to AV systems
Experience supporting video conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other unified communications solutions
Ability to interpret architectural drawings and coordinate AV designs with construction documentation
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, installers, and clients
Desired Skills & ExperienceExperience with DSP platforms such as Biamp or Shure
Experience designing AV-over-IP systems using platforms such as Dante or NVX
Familiarity with AV rack design and cable infrastructure planning
Experience supporting enterprise collaboration rooms and unified communications environments
Knowledge of construction coordination and working with architects and general contractors
Experience with AV system commissioning and documentation
Relevant AV certifications such as CTS or CTS-D from AVIXA
What You Will Be DoingDesigning and engineering commercial AV systems for meeting rooms, conference centers, training rooms, and large venues
Creating AutoCAD drawings including signal flow diagrams, system schematics, and rack elevations
Working with project managers to develop AV system specifications and technical documentation
Supporting installation teams during deployment to ensure systems are installed according to design
Configuring AV equipment including DSPs, control systems, video conferencing hardware, and AV-over-IP systems
Testing and commissioning AV systems to ensure proper performance and functionality
Troubleshooting system issues and supporting system optimization when needed
Collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure systems meet performance and usability requirements
Maintaining documentation for installed systems including diagrams, device lists, and configuration details
