Exciting contract Billing Manager – RCM opportunity with an established firm. This position will be onsite local to Oakland, CA.
Seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Billing Manager to lead our dental billing and communications teams. Required Skills & Experience
- Must be available to work in the Oakland, CA office full-time, Monday through Friday.
- 10+ years of experience in dental billing, including 7+ years in a leadership/management role.
- Proven track record managing billing for a DSO (Dental Support Organization) or multi-location dental group.
- Experience in multi-specialty dental billing (e.g., General Dentistry, Ortho, Endo, OS, Perio).
- Strong working knowledge of multiple dental PMS systems, such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Denticon, and others.
- Exceptional team leadership and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in setting and managing to KPIs.
- Preferred experience leading call center or communications teams within a dental or healthcare environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex billing escalations.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to process excellence and continuous improvement.
What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of billing operations, including eligibility, claim submission, and insurance follow-up for multiple dental specialties.
- Provide daily support and guidance to billing staff; act as the subject matter expert on payer rules and documentation protocols.
- Manage and develop the billing and Communications Center teams, emphasizing performance, mentorship, and accountability.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for claims, rejections, A/R aging, collections, and call center performance.
- Oversee inbound call operations, ensuring efficient patient scheduling and superior service through training and scripting.
- Ensure consistent, compliant billing practices aligned with Epic workflows and individual practice needs.
- Partner with IT and integration teams to onboard new practices and adapt billing processes in Epic.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Credentialing, Payor Relations, Operations, and Clinical teams to support end-to-end RCM success.
- Lead operational improvements through data-driven decision-making and streamlined communication.
- Support onboarding and training for new hires and practices to ensure a smooth transition into billing systems and workflows.
