System Engineer (Cloud Platform)

Phoenix, Arizona

Hybrid

Full Time

$90k - $120k

Join a dynamic cloud platform engineering team as a Cloud Platform Engineer in a full-time role where you'll work hands-on with AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud automation. This organization has built a dedicated 25-person cloud platform team divided into three specialized prongs: Delivery, CI/CD, and Security/Messaging. You'll be part of a collaborative environment working alongside senior engineers who will provide mentorship and guidance as you grow in your role. We currently have two positions available: one focused on the CI/CD pipeline team and another dedicated to the Security and Messaging team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with cloud experience who wants to level up their skills while working on meaningful infrastructure challenges. You'll join a team that's building the future of cloud platform engineering by creating self-service APIs that allow development teams to independently consume metrics, logging, and pipeline services. The vision is to eliminate bottlenecks and empower teams to integrate directly without manual intervention. You'll gain hands-on experience onboarding development teams to AWS, creating landing zones and accounts, implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Harness, and working with senior engineers who are invested in your growth. This isn't an entry-level role requiring hand-holding, but rather a position for someone ready to contribute independently while learning from experienced mentors in a supportive team environment.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), with strong preference for Amazon Web Services

  • Software development background or strong scripting capabilities (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar)

  • Proven aptitude for problem-solving and troubleshooting complex technical issues

  • Ability to work independently without requiring constant guidance or hand-holding

  • Experience supporting or working with development teams

  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts including accounts, landing zones, and resource organization

  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Desired Skills & Experience

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Administrator)

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Harness, GitLab CI, or similar platforms

  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)

  • Familiarity with logging and monitoring solutions (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)

  • API development or integration experience

  • Experience with security best practices in cloud environments

  • Understanding of messaging systems and event-driven architectures

  • Git version control and branching strategies

  • Agile development methodology experience
