Sports Data Engineer

A sports analytics company founded in 2016 by a former Major League pitcher is in search for their next Data Engineer who is passionate about sports. This person will either come from a sports background or is very interested in the progression of sports

The company partners with athletes to help them achieve their dreams by providing essential resources such as capital, a professional network, and analytical support. Their mission is to empower athletes to reach the pinnacle of their sport by offering financial backing, access to a vast network of investors, former players, and executives, as well as philanthropic and analytical support. 

There is a ton of cross-functional work as the machine learning, data science, and predictive statistics teams work together to identify the potential of athletes and support them in understanding their sport through advanced analytics. This comprehensive support system allows athletes to focus on improving and growing within their sport to achieve their professional goals. 

 

This position requires working 2 days per week onsite in DC. The tech stack includes Python, Polars, Pandas, AWS S3, Delta Lake and interfacing with the data science team to make machine learning algorithms production-ready. Ideal candidates will have agile startup experience and be go-getters who can work in fast-paced environments. Experience with university athletics programs and in-season athlete analytics is a plus, and a passion for sports is beneficial.
