Staff Software Engineer

An EdTech product shop with over 20 million daily active users on their flagship K-12 learning platform is seeking Staff Software Engineer to serve as the highest technical individual contributor in the organization.

In this role you will be leading a team of full stack engineers, be the chief architect for any new features on the product roadmap, institute best practices and coding standards, improving development workflow to get new people onboarded, be the technical role model for the team, and mentoring the team through one-on-one's and code reviews. This is not a manager role, so no need for experience managing a team from an HR standpoint. 

Their stack is a combination of TypeScript, React, Python, Django, Postgres, and AWS. They are looking for full stack engineers who lean heavier on the back end, though 50/50 full stack engineers will also be strongly considered. The role requires residency in the DC Metro area as the leadership team is based in the area.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7 years of experience building modern web applications
  • Strong background with full stack development
  • Experience with front end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with design architecture and implementation
  • Experience leading engineering teams
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Django or Flask
  • BS in Computer Science or similar degree
