IT Systems Engineer

We’re working with a family-owned technology company that specializes in the defense industry. They build mission critical systems for the military and nuclear facilities. This role is fully onsite in the Chicago suburbs. There will be an in-depth background check due to the nature of government and military interaction.

They are seeking an experienced systems engineer with 3–5 years of hands-on expertise in managing Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization (especially VMware), and containerization, along with solid skills in networking, security, and cloud technologies. The role involves designing and maintaining corporate IT infrastructure, performing cybersecurity assessments, automating system provisioning, troubleshooting diverse IT systems (including IoT devices), and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate and secure environments.


Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer
• Linux AND Windows OS
• Active Directory
• VMWare experience

Desired Skills & Experience

• Automation with Terraform or Ansible
• Cloud experience, particularly with Azure
• Military background
• Experience working in Defense
