Overview:

A fast-growing Managed Services Provider (MSP) is seeking a skilled and well-rounded Systems Engineer to join their team. This role involves extensive hands-on experience with IT infrastructure, particularly in Windows and VMware environments, along with some exposure to Linux systems.

You will primarily support clients in the Windsor, CT area and should be comfortable commuting there 2–3 times per week. Occasional visits to the Branford, CT office may also be required. When not onsite, work may be performed remotely, though proximity to the office and client locations is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows and VMware environments.

  • Provide support for Linux systems (approximately 10% of workload).

  • Deliver end-to-end IT infrastructure support including:

  • Office 365

  • Active Directory

  • SQL Server

  • Storage solutions

  • LAN/WAN networks

  • Firewalls, VPN, VLAN configurations

  • Work directly with clients onsite; must have a consulting background and be comfortable in client-facing situations.

  • Participate in technical assessments and internal exercises to align with core company values.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 3–5+ years of IT consulting or systems engineering experience.

    • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of infrastructure technologies.

    • Excellent communication, professionalism, and customer service skills.

    • Experience with troubleshooting, network diagnostics, and infrastructure deployment.

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

    Work Environment:

    • Client Visits: 2–3 days/week (mostly Windsor, CT area).

    • Remote Work: When not onsite, employees may work remotely, although presence in the office is generally expected if located within Connecticut.

    • Travel Reimbursement: Employees drive their own vehicles. Mileage is reimbursed according to IRS guidelines ($0.70/mile after the first 70 miles per day).
      Example: 100 miles driven = 30 reimbursed miles x $0.70 = $21.00/day

    Interview Process:

    1. Initial interview with recruiter or hiring team.

    2. Interview with Project Manager.

    3. Final interview with Director of Technical Operations.

    4. Completion of a Core Values Exercise.

    Technical Assessment (Pre-hire):

    The assessment includes 26 questions covering:

    • General IT knowledge and troubleshooting

    • DNS Records: A Record, MX Record

    • Networking Math: Subnetting, IP addressing

    • Binary counting and subnet masks

    • RAID configurations and concepts

    Ideal Candidate Location:

    • Preferably located east of I-91 (e.g., Middletown area).

    • Must be able to travel to Windsor, CT clients regularly.

    • Occasional presence at Branford, CT office is ideal.
