Job Title: Desktop Support Engineer
Contract: 6 months
Location: Onsite – Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, NC
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer for a 6-month contract to assist with large-scale deployments of Windows 10/11 on Dell computers. This role will involve providing direct support to end users, many of whom may have limited technical expertise, so strong communication and customer service skills are essential. The role also includes light ticketing support in collaboration with city and county IT systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage the deployment of Windows 10/11 across a wide range of Dell computers.
- Provide on-site technical support to end users for hardware and software issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to desktops, laptops, and related peripherals.
- Work directly with non-technical users to guide them through setup, troubleshooting, and usage of their systems.
- Collaborate with the IT team to ensure deployments are on schedule and meet quality standards.
- Handle light ticketing and escalate more complex issues as needed in collaboration with city and county IT teams.
- Document and track all support interactions and deployments for reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Experience with large-scale Windows 10/11 deployments on Dell systems.
- Strong knowledge of Dell hardware and configuration.
- Experience providing face-to-face technical support to end users.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and working with municipal or public sector IT teams.
- Ability to work onsite in Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, NC.
Nice to Have
- Experience in public sector or government IT support.
- Prior work in large-scale desktop deployment projects.
