Our client is a Fortune 10 company that is looking to hire a Controls Engineer on a contractual basis. Based out of Herndon, VA this position will be fully onsite.
They are seeking a talented Controls Engineer to oversee system integrators and controls vendors on construction sites, ensuring milestone compliance and scope adherence. This position will be 60-70% project coordination and 30-40% technical work. Technical tasks include limited configuration work on proprietary systems, troubleshooting support, and hands-on problem resolution when vendors encounter issues.

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of controls related experience preferably in BMS/BAS, EPMS in critical industries (preferable data centers, buildings but can consider oil & gas, petrochemical, water treatment etc.)
- 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI and submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.
- Experience with Distech systems, MQTT protocols, Modbus protocols, and various sensor types
- Must have hands on programming experience in one or more: PLC, DDC, DCS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering science plus 5+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 10+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting or servicing HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems application specific controllers, software and networks.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
- Manage scope, schedule, finance and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects in AWS data centers.
- Assist in procurement related activities including request for quotation/proposals, responding to request for information, reviewing vendors proposal and issuance of purchase orders.
- Support Controls projects related commissioning activities in the data centers.
- Review, implement, troubleshoot and iterate on the controls sequence of operation (SOO) and provide necessary feedback to the design team.
- Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
- Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
- Review results and action items from the maintenances for BMS and EPMS and take actions to get them resolved.
