Our client is looking for a Senior Database Administrator on a 11-month contract in Irving, TX.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Associate degree in computer-related study from an accredited college or university plus 2 years computer-related experience required.
  • Related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include one (1) year Enterprise (Oracle, Progress, or SQL) development.
  • Extensive experience in Oracle performance tuning, including: SQL query optimization, Index and execution plan analysis, AWR/ASH report interpretation, Use of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and other diagnostic tools
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in OLTP and OLAP environments
  • Strong understanding of Oracle architecture, including memory structures, background processes, and storage management
  • Experience with Oracle high availability configurations such as: Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), Data Guard (physical and logical standby).
  • Familiarity with performance tuning in other RDBMS platforms such as: MariaDB (e.g., slow query log analysis, optimizer hints), PostgreSQL (e.g., EXPLAIN plans, vacuum tuning), SAP HANA (e.g., query plan analysis, memory management)
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Bachelor's degree in computer related study from an accredited college or university.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop, implement and maintain the Enterprise database system in a combination UNIX/NT environment; and to develop policies, standards and procedures related to the database environment.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the database system ensuring that the database environment is stable and capable of meeting ongoing business needs including logical and physical database design and implementation; structure testing of database designs, applications, and technology platform; security administration, backup and recovery planning; capacity planning; performance and tuning; research and evaluation of new tools and techniques.
  • Develop, revise, and implement policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines to effectively administer the database environment.
  • Plan and conduct structured testing of database designs to confirm functionality and performance.
  • Develop and implement plans to oversee the database administration function and ensure smooth transition to new technology.
  • Assist with data and database administration including hardware and software evaluation and installation.
  • Participate in task force to develop and implement a database system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support the organization's quality program(s).
