Our client is a healthcare AI start-up on a mission to transform patient care through cutting-edge artificial intelligence and cloud-powered solutions. Our platform leverages advanced machine learning, natural language processing, and secure data systems to help clinicians and health systems deliver better, faster, and more personalized care.

They are seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer to drive the design, implementation, and scaling of our cloud infrastructure. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in fast-paced start-up environments, is passionate about healthcare innovation, and wants to make a real-world impact. As the technical leader for cloud infrastructure, you will collaborate closely with software engineers, data scientists, and security experts to ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and HIPAA-compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, deployment, and management of cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Own infrastructure scalability, automation, monitoring, and cost optimization strategies.

  • Implement secure, reliable, and compliant systems for healthcare data (HIPAA, HITRUST).

  • Build CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling to accelerate engineering productivity.

  • Oversee cloud networking, storage, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and serverless architectures.

  • Partner with data engineering and AI/ML teams to optimize cloud environments for large-scale data processing and model deployment.

  • Mentor and guide cloud/infrastructure engineers, setting technical standards and best practices.

  • Stay ahead of emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their potential impact on our platform.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership role.

  • Deep expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud-native services.

  • Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, etc.).

  • Proficiency in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Strong background in CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automation frameworks.

  • Solid understanding of security best practices for cloud and healthcare data compliance.

  • Familiarity with data pipelines, distributed systems, or ML/AI deployment is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to thrive in a start-up environment.
