Job Description

This position will report to divisional office in Austin, TX, daily, before heading out to several field areas throughout the valley. They are searching for someone who can go to their actual community build locations and help set them up. Some of the typical tasks for that section will include installing cable modems, printers, new workstations, StarLink (satellite internet) and Cradle Points (cellular version of StarLink, cellular modem for internet connection), as well as troubleshooting LAN.

This function will necessitate a high degree of customer service, as providing exceptional experiences to their non-technical employees is critical. In addition to more hands-on field work, there will be some help for the service desk for issues such as Desktop help, Trouble Shooting Software, Internet Connectivity, Active Directory, and Azure Office 365.

100% in office Austin, TX to other locations required. 8am to 5pm, 3–6-month contract-to-hire. Pay rate $40/hr.


Required Skills & Experience
• Excellent communication skills and experience assisting non-technical employees.
• Professional appearance, presentation, and personality.
• You must bring your own car and drive yourself to destinations.

• Provide Tier 1 and 2 support, including O365 and AD.

• Requires Windows. Strong preference for Mac.

• Understanding network principles, including LAN, WAN, routers, switches, and TCP/IP protocols.

• Proficient in imaging laptops, supporting audio and video, and assisting with cell phones.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Typically resolving 20 tickets a day.
  • The work environment primarily uses Windows, with few Macs. • Responsibilities include computer imaging, A/V setup and troubleshooting, and cell phone support (not sure if MDM is used). Clients may bring up printers, but they use Cannon, so you will probably not need to do much.
  • The networking team is now moving from Meraki to FortiGate.
  • Work daily in the division office and travel to field locations throughout the valley. The Field Technician must visit the real community build locations to assist with their setup. Some of the typical tasks for that section will include installing cable modems, printers, new workstations, StarLink (satellite internet) and Cradle Points (cellular version of Starlink, cellular modem for internet connection), as well as troubleshooting LAN.
  • When working onsite between field work assignments, the Field Technician will provide support to the service desk for issues like desktop Support, Trouble Shooting Software, Internet Connectivity, Active Directory and Azure Office 365.
  • Professionalism in appearance and personality, they need to be ready to meet Executive level individuals on a moment's notice.
  • Technical knowledge and field tech experience, they need a strong 2-3 years of experience minimum they can speak to.
