Lead Software Architect

This is a full-time opportunity with an innovative software organization building cloud-native platforms that power research, data collaboration, and AI-driven discovery tools used across scientific and technical industries. The engineering team operates heavily in Python, Java, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), and modern AI frameworks to build scalable, intelligent products from the ground up.

This role is for someone who wants to architect and lead the development of a brand-new AI-native product while mentoring a high-performing engineering team. You’ll take business ideas and translate them into modern technical architecture, working directly with product and UX to shape how AI is embedded into real-world applications. If you enjoy greenfield builds, cloud-native design, and applying LLMs and AI tooling to create production-grade systems, this is the kind of opportunity where you get to truly own the vision and execution.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of software engineering and architecture experience

• 5+ years of experience designing AI-powered applications and infrastructure using LLMs

• Strong programming expertise in Python and Java

• Experience working with distributed computing frameworks such as Ray, Spark, Dask, or similar

• Deep experience building highly available, large-scale applications in AWS environments

• Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, containers, and cloud-native design

• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices including CI/CD, testing, and observability

Desired Skills & Experience

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field

• Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring developers

• Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)

• Exposure to data science, AI/ML, cybersecurity, or big data technologies

• Experience with open-source technologies

• Full-stack development exposure is a plus

• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills

• Experience working in highly technical, research, or data-driven industries is a plus
