Lead GCP Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned Google Cloud Platform Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of our enterprise cloud infrastructure. This role will serve as the subject matter expert for GCP foundational services—driving scalability, security, and reliability across mission-critical systems. Candidates should bring deep expertise in GCP networking, storage, databases, and security, with the ability to guide development teams and optimize cloud resources.

The company is located in Ashburn, VA and will be 2-3 days onsite a week.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Architect and deploy scalable, secure infrastructure on Google Cloud.
  • Manage core GCP services including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, and routing.
  • Configure and optimize GCP storage (Cloud Storage, Filestore, Persistent Disk).
  • Administer IAM policies, ensuring least-privilege access across environments.
  • Operate and tune cloud-native databases (Cloud SQL, Spanner, Bigtable).
  • Oversee container orchestration with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and control costs.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure application readiness on GCP.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager).
  • Support CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Harness) for streamlined delivery.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years in Cloud, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
  • 3+ years hands-on with Google Cloud services.
  • Deep knowledge of Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, VPC, and related services.
  • Strong background in networking, firewalls, and VPNs in cloud environments.
  • Proven experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Deployment Manager).
  • GCP Professional certification (e.g., Cloud Architect) preferred.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python).
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD automation.
  • Eligible for Public Trust; active DHS/CBP or TS clearance highly desirable.
