Job Description

A growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Fort Washington, PA is seeking an experienced Level 3 Systems Engineer to join our technical team. This senior-level position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges across diverse client environments.

You’ll be responsible for advanced systems implementation, Microsoft 365 migrations, virtualization projects, and escalated troubleshooting. This role involves a mix of hands-on engineering, solution design, and mentorship of junior team members. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of client systems across on-prem and cloud environments.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems engineering roles, preferably within an MSP environment

  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, including configuration, clustering, and performance tuning

  • Proven expertise in Windows Server installation, configuration, and maintenance (2016/2019/2022)

  • Demonstrated experience performing Microsoft 365 migrations (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune)

  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services

  • Experience with Azure AD Connect, hybrid environments, and identity management

  • Familiarity with network fundamentals — VLANs, VPNs, routing, and firewall configuration

  • Proficiency with system monitoring, patch management, and backup/disaster recovery solutions (Datto, Veeam, etc.)

  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

  • Customer-first mindset with the ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience designing and implementing VMware and Hyper-V infrastructures

  • Familiarity with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred)

  • Exposure to Azure IaaS and virtual networking

  • Experience performing tenant-to-tenant Microsoft 365 migrations

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, MFA, and endpoint protection platforms

  • Previous experience mentoring Tier 1–2 technicians or leading project implementations

  • Experience using PSA/RMM tools (Autotask, N-able, ConnectWise, or similar)

What You Will Be Doing
  • Design, implement, and maintain VMware virtualization environments for client infrastructures

  • Build, configure, and deploy Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP

  • Plan and execute Microsoft 365 migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity

  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex server, cloud, and networking issues

  • Collaborate with project managers to scope, plan, and deliver client infrastructure projects

  • Lead technical initiatives for system upgrades, migrations, and security improvements

  • Work with clients to assess environments and recommend scalable technology solutions

  • Maintain accurate documentation for systems, configurations, and project changes

  • Assist in developing internal best practices and knowledge base documentation

  • Mentor junior technicians and contribute to team training initiatives
